The Abantu Tribe Brings Africa to Life

Abantu Tribe

The Abantu Tribe

A Nigerian friend once told me, “blockchain was built for Africa.” Given the continent’s abundance of mineral resources and the fact that it has the world’s youngest population (70% of Sub-Saharan Africa is under the age of 30) according to the UN, we should expect the landmass nicknamed ‘The Mother Continent’ to be leading the way in terms of economic and social development.

However, we all know why this isn’t the case, and it has nothing to do with the ingenuity or work ethic of the people. Decades if not centuries of geopolitical exploitation have stacked the odds unfairly against Africa. However, it seems that this period may be in the process of coming to an end.

With Cardano relentlessly offering innovative solutions such as Emurgo, and an increasing awareness of blockchain technology’s utility circulating among the youth, it appears the baton of empowerment is being seized from out of the monopolist’s hands. Organisations like WADA (West African Decentralized Alliance) have been instrumental in this fight.

A Vision of What Could be

The Abantu Tribe is an NFT project designed with one objective in mind, to encourage and assist African’s in taking their rightful place in the 21st century global, digital market. By raising awareness of the blockchain’s decentralised nature and the utilities that come with it, The Abantu Tribe will empower the continent’s citizens to achieve generational economic independence.

By onboarding as many African’s to the blockchain as possible the hope is to set in motion an irreversible trend of innovation, inspiration and prosperity. Their primary targets consist of artists, non-profit organisations and of course the youth. However, this list is far from exhaustive.

Artistic Recognition Should Not be Subject to Geographical Location

Despite its rich cultural history, a lack of basic infrastructure has left the arts industry in Africa somewhat lacking. Without proper access to recording studios, galleries or performance venues it’s pretty difficult for artistic expression to flourish. One way the team hopes to address this issue is with the launch of The Abuntu Tribe Scrapbook Collection. This will be separate from the main collection and will showcase the exceptional talent of African artists, to a global audience. By converting the artwork into NFTs and raffling them off, it’s hoped they can bring exposure to otherwise unrecognised talents, as well as providing fair monetary compensation to the artist.

From Non-profit to Self Sufficiency

It’s a sad state of affairs that the word Africa is almost synonymous with the words, ‘non-profit organisation’. However, these organisations do play a vital role in addressing the various social, economic and environmental challenges faced by many communities across the continent. Their main objectives of course are to provide education and healthcare, to address poverty and hunger along with confronting human rights abuses and protecting the environment.

Needless to say, funding is a huge problem and one which greatly impacts the operational efficiency of these organisations. By partnering with organisations such as ‘The Black Mambas Anti-poaching Unit’ (among others) and helping them create their own NFT collections, The Abantu Tribe will be providing an opportunity for self promotion and future self sufficiency. Multiply this across a variety of organisations and you get a truly influential hive of passionate and dedicated trail-blazers.

Education is The Key to Transformation

Nelson Mandela said, “No country can really develop unless its citizens are educated.” Despite its young population, and although things are rapidly changing for the better, a lack of awareness surrounding blockchain technology still hinders Africa. Given the level of innovation often required purely as a means of survival, the youth of Africa are almost perfectly poised to excel if given the right tools.

With this in mind, The Abantu Tribe founders have reached out to several educational institutions with the aim of launching blockchain centred lessons. With the assistance of highly trained blockchain experts they are in the process of developing a comprehensive curriculum, the aim of which is to make blockchain accessible to all, arming the next generation with the knowledge to become global players in the space.

Staking

A portion of profits generated by the team’s onboarding activities will be designated to NFT holders, along with a percentage of the mint proceeds. This goes for royalties from secondary market sales as well. The project will also see the launch of the $EGOLI utility token which will be earned by a variety of means, including staking, community events as well as Twitter and Discord giveaways. What’s more, you will also be able to make future upgrades to your NFTs using $EGOLI, as well as purchasing special items.

There will be a total supply of 100,000,000 $EGOLI and two halving periods. The first of which will occur once 50% of the staking rewards have been distributed, the second once distribution reaches 85% . It should be noted that the earning of ADA and $EGOLI will not be available at the time of mint, however, its implementation is a top priority for the team.

The Untold Prophecy

In a continuation of the showcasing of African culture and talent, The Abantu Tribe NFT collection will be accompanied by a professionally written novel, creating an immersive experience which aims to enchant and captivate. Titled ‘The Untold Prophecy’, the story is steeped in the myth and legends of Africa, weaving a tapestry out of the traditions and beliefs held by the various cultures to have inhabited the continent. As the story unfolds the reader will be transported on a journey, encountering magic, ancient prophecies and fierce battles.

Readers will be introduced to a cast of vibrantly energised characters, each with their own unique backstory and motivations. However, although the concept of an accompanying story is nothing new to the NFT world, this one boasts something special. The Untold Prophecy is actually alive, a living breathing incarnation of the characters that dwell within it.

Each NFT is a character that features in the story, some with more prominence than others. The traits of each NFT represent the type of role the character will play in the novel, with the ‘initiation map’ closely linked to the journey undertaken by each character as the novel develops.

What makes The Untold Prophecy so exceptional is that when something happens to a character in the novel, the traits of the respective NFT will change accordingly, as in literally change in your wallet. For example, if your character dies in the story their appearance on the NFT will change to reflect this, it’s total immersion. Each chapter of the story will be launched on a recurring basis and holders will have to stay active in Discord to keep updated.

The Objective in a Nutshell

The Team has a solid plan to create a brand that encapsulates both the rich cultural heritage and natural beauty of Africa, as well as the simmering technological prowess that should hopefully erupt over the coming decades. This is about much more than just an NFT project for degens. By planting deep roots which will birth life to a flourishing, self contained digital ecosystem, the team will help foster a new culture of economic and social resurrection, raising Africa to be the global powerhouse that it always should have been.

The team wears their heart on their sleeve, with the sole purpose of improving lives on the African continent they have developed a meticulously deigned blueprint for success. To learn more about the project read their white paper here.
